Ozone Generation by Surface Dielectric Barrier Discharge

Surface dielectric barrier discharge (SDBD) is used in a variety of different applications; however, the ozone generated can be toxic to people vicinity. In this paper, we study SDBD (using generators with smooth-edge, serrated and thin-wire high-voltage electrodes) terms generation. The electrical measurements time-resolved plasma imaging revealed differences current, dissipated power morphology for types showed significant suppression streamer formation from electrode. We determined amount produced by each generator found that despite observed between generators, production yield maximum volumetric concentration all three linear function only one parameter—the active power. also efficiency 9.66 g/kWh constant generators. Our results show safely enclosed space if operates relatively low (the working 1.7 W did not exceed 0.1 ppm 60 m3 room).
